Lacrosse to Participate in Fundraiser at February Scrimmage in Greensboro
The Catawba lacrosse team will participate in a Coaches for Collin fundraiser scrimmage on Feb. 9 in Greensboro. Catawba, Greensboro, Guilford and Wingate will be having their annual scrimmages at the Smith Training Facility at 5 pm and 7 pm.
A donation table will be set up to help Christian Zwickert, head men’s lacrosse coach at Wesley College, and his family. Christian’s son, Collin, who suffered a severe brain injury due to lack of oxygen during birth on Oct. 1, 2006. First told he would live for only one hour, Collin has survived and is becoming healthier.
Collin receives over 32 home therapies per month along with hospital trips. He receivers over 10 daily medications and has had 20 surgeries, procedures and tests over the past 15 months. The purpose of the fundraiser is to help the Zwickerts raise money for experimental therapies not covered by insurance and for a wheelchair adapted minivan.
