Morrow sets career hit mark in Baseball romp over North GreenvilleSALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College senior Israel Morrow (Claremont, NC) had a pair of hits in a 19-hit attack as the Indians defeated visiting North Greenville 15-6 in baseball action on Thursday afternoon at Newman Park. With the hits, Morrow eclipsed the school record of 210 career hits set by Greg Payne from 1993-96. Morrow now has 211. Catawba improved to 13-5 with its 10th win in 11 outings, while the Crusaders fell to 2-20. Catawba used five walks and got a bases-clearing double from Matt Smith (Browns Summitt, NC)to grab a 4-1 lead after an inning. Chad Hill (Bennett, NC) had a two-run homer and Matt Baker (Charlotte, NC) a RBI double in the second as the Tribe increased its lead to 7-1. In the fifth, Spence Southard's (Greensboro, NC) RBI double was followed by a three-run home run by Curt Motsinger (Kernersville, NC) to increase Catawba's lead to 12-2. North Greenville got solo home runs by Adam Dietterick (Seneca, SC) and Andy Rogers (Boiling Springs, SC), while Matt Rollins (Taylors, SC) had a three-run shot in the ninth. Matt Fairweather (Lenoir, NC) pitched six strong innings, allowing three runs, two earned, while scattering three hits. He walked two and struck out three in improving to 3-0 on the year. Southard and Baker each collected three hits to pace the Tribe hit parade. Smith and Motsinger had three RBI. #######
