HARROGATE, TN -- Lincoln Memorial held visiting Catawba to 20 first-half points and went on to record a 71-60 win in South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action on Wednesday night at Turner Arena.  The win evens the Lady Railsplitters overall mark at 12-12, while improving to 3-9 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fall to 10-14 and 3-9.

The Lady Indians held an early 9-5 lead, but a 19-4 run by Lincoln Memorial, capped by a three-point play by Shawna Nichols put the hosts up 24-13 at the 5:57 mark of the half.  Catawba rallied back to 28-20 at the break, but shot just 35% in the opening stanza.

LMU moved out to a 15-point lead at the start of the second half, but Catawba rallied and cut the margin to six at 52-46 on a three-point play by Cameron Clark (Albemarle, NC/N. Stanly HS) with 6:42 remaining.  A three-point play by Sicilia LoSauro (Oviedo, FL/Oviedo HS) pulled the Lady Indians within five at 60-55 with 2:35 to play, but Catawba would not score again until the final minute as LMU ran off eight straight points.

The Lady Railsplitter hit nine-of-10 from the charity stripe down the stretch to hold its margin.  Andi Winney posted a double-double for LMU with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Nichols followed with 15 points, going 11-of-12 at the line.  LoSauro had 16 to pace Catawba, while NeKeithia Howard (Macon, GA/Northeast HS) added 11 and Brittany Higgins (Tacoma Park, MD/Blair HS) 10.
