Women's Tennis Pulls Out 5-4 Win Over Lenoir-Rhyne

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba picked up a 5-4 win over visiting Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action on Thursday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.  The Catawba Indians raise their record to 11-6 overall and 2-1 in the SAC, while the Bears fall to 6-4 and 2-2.  It also marked the 200th win for head coach Jeff Childress in combined men’s and women’s action at Catawba.

The Lady Indians swept the doubles action then got singles wins from Nikiah Knox (Stratham, NH/Exeter HS) and Jennifer Dameron (Siler City, NC/Jordan-Matthews HS) to grab the win.  The Lady Indians are without two of their top four singles players, Kasia Zielinski and Meri Cartmill, who are out with injuries.  Cartmill did play doubles.
