Tuttle Stands Third After One Round at NCAA II Men's Golf Southeast Regional
MOORESVILLE, NC -- Catawba senior Allen Tuttle (Arthur, TN/White Academy) shot a two-under-par 70 and stands third after the opening round of the NCAA II Southeast Regional Men’s Golf Tournament being held at the 7,037-yard, par-72 Point Lake Golf Club. The three-round event will conclude on Wednesday.
Tuttle started on the back nine and grabbed a share of the early lead with back-to-back birdies at the par-5 12th and par-3 13th to go two-under-par. The senior closed his first nine with bogeys on 17 and 18 to turn at even par.
On his second nine, Tuttle shot two-under with three birdies. He had a birdie at the par-3 third and after a bogey on four he picked up consecutive birdies at No. 6 and No. 7. Tuttle was three under on the four par-3 holes. He was one of seven players in the field of 45 to shoot under par.
Juan Bialet, of Georgia College & State University, shares the first round lead at three-under-par with Newberry’s Daniel Stanley. Tuttle is a shot back with four golfers coming in at one-under. GC&SU holds the team lead by eight shots after the first round. The Bobcats had a three-under-par team total with Newberry in second with a 293. Lander is in third with a score of 294.
