Jacobs Paces Women's Cross Country to 7th Place Finish at Eye Opener Meet
SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Catawba women finished seventh among 25 teams, while the men were 19th of 22 at the Eye Opener Cross Country meet held on Saturday morning at Milikan Research Center. The women had finished second out of six Division II school at last weekend’s Gamecock Invitational. The men did not score.
Freshman Olivia Jacobs (China Grove, NC/S. Rowan HS) led the ladies at the Eye Opener as she was eighth on the 5k course, finishing with a time of 20:16. She also led the team at the Gamecock Invitational, running to a fourth place finish in a time of 20:37.
On the men’s side, freshman Clay Yarbrough (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) led the way for the second straight week. He was 49th at the Eye Opener, covering the 8k course in a time of 29:18. At USC’s Gamecock Invitational, he was 12th on the 5k course and posted a time of 17:16.
