Schmehl's Ace Highlights Career-Equaling Low Round As Men's Golf Finishes 7th at Anderson Inv.


ANDERSON, SC – The Catawba men’s golf team finished seventh out of 10 teams at the Anderson Invitational which concluded on Tuesday at the 6,685-yard, par-72 Brookstone Meadows Golf Club.  Limestone took team honors with a two-round total of 575, topping Tusculum by a single shot.  Catawba had a total of 594.


Eric Schmehl (Shamong, NJ/Seneca HS) led Catawba with a fifth-place finish with a 141 total and was named to the all-tournament team.  He followed an opening round 73 with a four-under-par round of 68 on Tuesday, which included a hole-in-one on the par-3, 200-yard 13th.  The 68 equaled the junior’s career low round.  Derek Paschal (Summerville, NC/NW Guilford HS) was 16th with a total of 145.  Tusculum’s Darren Christie was the medalist with a score of 137.
