Down by a set, Newberry opened the second set strong and built a 16-9 lead that forced Catawba to call a timeout.  Powers took over for the Lady Indians recording four kills and three blocks in a run that tied the set at 18-all.  Tied at 19, Catawba finished on 6-2 run that put the scarlet and gray away, 21-25.

The Catawba Indians had the match in hand and opened the final set with an 11-3 run that included three aces by Powers and three kills by Melissa Griffith (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette HS).  NC did not quit and lowered the deficit to two points at 16-14, but the Catawba defense was too strong to crack and Powers killed off the match point.
