Baseball falls at LimestoneGAFFNEY, SC -- Limestone College defeated visiting Catawba 7-2 in baseball action on Wednesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Tribe to 19-13, while Limestone improved to 15-17. Limestone jumped on top in the first, getting a lead-off home run by Drew Mitchell. The Saints loaded the bases with one out, but Tribe starter Jake Talley (Royersford, PA) limited the damage to just two runs in the inning. He got a groundout for a force at home and then Curt Motsinger (Kernersville, NC) threw a runner out at the plate to end the frame. Mike Robbins (Columbia, SC) cut the lead to 2-1 with a RBI double in the fifth, but Limestone got the run back in its fifth and tacked on four more in the sixth for a 7-1 lead. Three of the runs in the sixth followed a two-out error. The final Catawba run came in the eighth as Mark Smith (Browns Summitt, NC) hit a sacrifice fly to score Matt Baker (Charlotte, NC), who doubled to lead off the inning. #######
