Swimming Teams Take Second At Boo Bash Relays
SALISBURY, NC -- Both the Catawba men and women swim teams finished second at the Boo Bash Relays over the weekend. Limestone had 140 points to top the Tribe women, who posted 80 points, while the Saint men picked up 136 points to 102 for Catawba.
Catawba picked up wins in three of the relays. The women took top spot in the 300 breast, while the men won the 200 and 500 free. For the women, Katie Huff (New London, NC/N. Stanly HS), Meredith Shultz (Richmond, VA/James River HS) and Kat Kearney (Wilmington, NC/New Hanover HS) posted a time of 3:39.2 to win by 14 seconds.
On the men’s side, Catawba won a tight race in the 500 free as Patrick Novak (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS), Chistopher Stolt (Stockholm, SWEDEN), Grand Gibson (Owen Sound, CANADA) and Alex Walpole (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) out-touched the Limestone team by .17 hundredth’s of a second. Novak and Stolt also swam on the 200 free winners and were joined by Mikael Karlsson (Norsburg, SWEDEN) and Patrik Drakes (Stockholm, SWEDEN).
In individual races, Jessica Jordan (Meriden, CT/Maloney HS) was third in the 400 IM, swimming a time of 4:49.59. Drakes was second in the men’s 400 IM with a time of 3:58.05.
