Ganow Named SAC Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba junior Kyle Ganow (State College, PA/State College Area HS) has been selected as the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete for Men’s Soccer. He is the first men’s soccer player from Catawba to earn the honor since 1999. He was the only Indian to earn a league post-season honor.
A biology major, Ganow has a 3.72 GPA and is member of three honor societies. He earned the Catawba freshman chemistry award and has been named to the dean’s list, the presidential honor roll, the SAC Commissioner’s honor roll and the Catawba athletic honor roll.
On the field, Ganow started 16 of 18 matches this season as a defender. He helped the team to a pair of shutouts and scored one goal.
Ganow serves as a member of the Catawba student government association, the Dead Athenian Society and the American Chemistry Society. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Nature Safe and the Rowan Alliance Youth Soccer Club and has helped work with the Salisbury Hispanic Coalition.
