Houston Named SAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Junior Antonio Houston (Charlotte, NC/E. Mecklenburg HS) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the opening week of the season. It was announced by league officials on Monday.
Houston, a 6-3 guard, averaged 21 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in leading Catawba to a 2-0 start to the season. The Indians earned wins over Felician (83-66) and No. 21 Mount Olive (68-65) over the weekend at the Salisbury Roundball Classic.
In the opener against Felician, Houston tallied 22 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists before adding 20 points in the win over nationally-ranked Mount Olive. Houston also hit 45 percent (14-of-31) of his shots and finished 10-of-12 (83 percent) from the free throw line as well.
The SAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week is voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
