Carter earns all-region honors in Men's Basketball
Catawba College junior Brian Carter (Alexandria, VA) has been named to the All-South Atlantic Region second team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Carter had earlier this season been named to the All- South Atlantic Conference first team.
Carter, of Mount Vernon High School, led Catawba and ranked second in the league with a 16.9 scoring average. He was the league's third leading rebounder at 7.6 a contest. In his 27 games, he reached 20 points on 11 occasions, including twice scoring over 30 points. His career-high of 32 points came in a 75-68 win over Livingstone. He stands just four points shy of 1,000 in his career as he enters his senior season.
Carter ranked 10th in the SAC in field goals shooting and 13th in steals. He stood eighth in blocked shots with 25 and has moved into third place on the school's all-time block list with 105 in his career.
Catawba recorded a 19-8 mark this season and placed third in the SAC. The South Atlantic Conference is a NCAA II league comprised of eight schools in North Carolina, South Caroline and Tennessee.
