Lacrosse Drops 13-9 Decision To Pfeiffer
SALISBURY, NC -- Dan Mesler (Penn Yan, NY) scored four goals as Pfeiffer defeated host Catawba 13-9 in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. The Falcons improve to 2-0, while the Catawba Indians fall to 0-2.
Kevin Anderson (Altamonte Springs, FL) put the Falcons on top just one minute into the game and Pfeiffer never trailed. Anderson assisted on a tally by Jameson Schultz (High Point, NC) for a 2-0 lead at the 5:13 mark of the opening quarter. Catawba cut the Pfeiffer lead to a single goal three times before Mesler and Kyle Rockey (Charlotte, NC) scored back-to-back to give the Falcons a 6-3 lead at the half.
After Cameron Kent (Rochester, NY/N. Mecklenburg (NC) HS) scored for Catawba to open the second half, the Falcons scored three straight times for a 9-4 edge after three quarters. Max Vinograd (Bethesda, MD/Whitman HS) scored twice for Catawba in the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter, but another three-goal spurt by the Falcons upped the lead to 13-7.
Schultz had two goals and a pair of assists to join Mesler with four points for the Falcons. Anderson had a goal and two assists, while Jimmy Dyches (Abingdon, MD) recorded 10 saves. Vinograd scored three goals for Catawba. Marty Tuohy (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth HS) had two goals and three assists.
