WINTER PARK, FL -- The Catawba lacrosse team grabbed its first win of the season, topping host Rollins 10-5 in Deep South Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.  Marty Tuohy (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth HS) had five points (three goals) for the Catawba Indians, who improve to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the DSC.  The Tars fall to 1-2 and 0-1.

Tuohy assisted on the lone goal of the opening quarter, which was scored by Braden Artem (Acton, Ont, CANADA/Christ the King HS) at the 9:14 mark.  Stephen Shuba (Orlando, FL/Olympia HS) put Catawba up 2-0 five seconds into the second quarter.

Rollins cut the lead in half with a man-up goal by Cooper Gilman with 13:13 left in the half and it stayed that way until Artem scored again with two minutes to go in the half.  Tuohy scored a man down with just 31 seconds remaining in the quarter to give the Indians a 4-1 edge at the break.

The Tars got within 5-3 with 3:30 left in the third quarter, but Catawba scored the next five goals to take control midway through the final quarter.  Tuohy had two of the goals, Shuba had a goal and an assist and Freddie Turcio (Guilford, CT/Guilford HS) had a pair of assists.  Gilman scored twice for Rollins in the final 3:32 for the final margin.
