SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College cross country coach, Bill Haggerty, has announced four men’s commitments for the 2009 season.  Joining Catawba next fall will be Jonathan Cooley, of Mooresville, NC, Christian Crifasi, of Ramseur, NC, Jarrett Jackson, of Huntersville, NC, and Justin Smith, of Greensboro, NC.

Cooley ran at Lake Norman High School where he was a two-time team MVP.  He was an all-conference and two-time all-county performer.  Cooley set the Wildcat 5k record with a time of 16:57.

Crifasi was a standout at Eastern Randolph High School as he was named conference runner of the year three times.  He was twice named all-region and was All-State.  In track, Crifasi was a two-time State qualifier in the 800 and 1600, finishing third and sixth, respectively as a senior.

Jackson was named the most improved runner at Hopewell High School.  He helped the Titans to conference title as a junior.

Smith ran at Ragsdale High School and was a two-time All-State performer, posting a best 5k time of 16:38.  He was a three-time all-conference selection and twice earned all-region honors.  Smith was a two-time team MVP for the Tigers and was also a scholar athlete.
