CHARLOTTE, NC -- Queens out-scored visiting Catawba 10-2 during the middle quarters and went on to pick up an 18-10 win in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday night at the Queens Athletic Complex. The Royals improve to 6-5, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-6.
Stephen LeBlanc and Cory Thomas each had four goals and two assists to lead Queens. Braden Artem (Acton, Ont, CANADA/Christ the King HS) and Mike Dolesh (Aquasco, MD/St. Mary’s Ryken HS) each had three goals for the Indians.
Dolesh gave Catawba an early 1-0 lead with his first goals just over a minute into the game. He put the Indians up 4-3 with a tally as the first quarter expired. That would be the last lead for Catawba as LeBlanc tied the game at the 10:58 mark of the second half, beginning a 10-1 barrage for the hosts.
Queens held a 13-6 lead after three quarters. Catawba pulled within 14-8 with 9:07 left, but consecutive goals by Brian Masterson and another by Thomas pushed the margin to 17-8 with six minutes to play.
