McClimans Selected as Deep South Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week


WINGATE, NC -- Catawba goalie Colin McClimans (Washington DC), Saint Leo attack Benjamin Brigham (Scituate, MA) and Mars Hill’s Chris Cudmore (Whitby, Ont, CANADA) have been named the Deep South Conference Lacrosse Defense, Offense and Freshman of the Week.  It was announced by league officials on Monday.  McClimans held Catawba split a pair of league games last week to secure a spot in the upcoming DSC Tournament.

McClimans, the defensive selection, posted a .660 save percentage on the week, stopping 31 shots over two games.  The Maret School product posted a .704 save percentage and stopped 19 shots in a tough 8-7 overtime loss to Wingate.  He followed that up by recording a dozen saves in a 10-8 win over Florida Southern.  McClimans had four saves in the final quarter as the Catawba Indians rallied from an 8-7 deficit, scoring the last three goals over the final 12:30.

Brigham, who earned offensive honors, scored six goals in Saint Leo’s 16-3 win over Rollins College.  Cudmore, the freshman pick, helped the Lions to a 1-1 mark.  He had six caused turnovers, six ground balls and held both of his men without a point.
