Men's Tennis Takes 5-4 Win Over Carson-Newman
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba rallied with four singles wins to take a 5-4 win over visiting Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference men’s tennis action on Friday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. The Catawba Indians improve to 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the SAC, while the Eagles fall to 3-9 and 3-5.
Carson-Newman won two of three doubles matches, but Catawba rallied winning singles at both the top two flights and the bottom two flights. Catawba-Newman got singles wins from Trent Slagle, in two tiebreakers, and Adriano Kira, in three sets. The duo had combined to win at #3 doubles for the Eagles.
Catawba’s Matt King (Concord,NSW,AUSTRALIA/Sydney Boys) and Tom McCormick (Winchester, ENGLAND/Symonds) won for Catawba in singles and doubles. Sean Soltan (Vetlanda, SWEDEN/Njudungsgymnasiet) and Uri Yarkoni (Kelowna, BC/CANADA/Okanagan HS) picked up singles wins for the Indians.
