SALISBURY, NC -- Junior Craige Lyerly (Salisbury, NC/E. Rowan HS) extended his hitting streak to 26 games and was one of three Catawba players to collected four hits in a 17-6 win over visiting St. Andrews on Tuesday night at Newman Park.  The Catawba Indians improve to 30-15, while the Knights fall to 7-37.

Catawba rapped out 21 hits on the night as Brett Hatley (Salisbury, NC/W. Rowan HS) and Zeb Link (Woodleaf, NC/W. Rowan HS) joined Lyerly with four hits.  Lyerly, Hatley and Josh Hohn (Greensboro, NC/S. Guilford HS) each drove in three runs and scored three times.  Michael Ficcaro (Pine City, NY) had a pair of hits for St. Andrews and Samson Williams (Wilmington, NC) had a home run.

Corey Parker (Kernersville, NC/Glenn HS) gave Catawba the lead in the second on a sacrifice fly then Lyerly homered to lead off the third to extend his hitting streak.  He would add a second homer in the fourth with Hohn delivering a two-run shot in the frame as the Tribe moved out to a 7-0 lead.

Travis McSweeney (Palm Harbor, FL/East Lake HS), who had retired 12 of the first 13 batter he faced, ran into trouble in the fifth as the Knights closed within 7-5.  Andrew Mudd (Laurinburg, NC) doubled home a run and Williams capped the frame with a two-run homer.

Catawba got two runs back in its fifth then exploded for five in the sixth.  Hatley singled home a pair of runs and Ryan Query (Kannapolis, NC/Brown HS) followed with a two-run homer in the big inning.  McSweeney picked up the win to improve to 3-1.  Three Catawba relievers allowed just one hit over the final four innings.
