Lacrosse Falls In Season Finale to #8 Limestone
GAFFNEY, SC -- Catawba dropped its season finale 24-5 to 8th-ranked Limestone in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. The Saints improve to 10-3, while the Catawba Indians end their season at 4-9.
The Saints held a 56-23 edge in shots in the win. Catawba goalies Brad Ross (Freeland, MD/Calvert Hall HS), Colin McClimans (Washington DC/The Maret School), and Michael Pecchia (Coquitlam, BC, CANADA/Heritage Woods HS) combined for 11 saves. James Tuohy (Levittown, NY) made eight saves for Limestone.
Jake Rogalia (Liverpool, NY) had a game-high four assists for Limestone, feeding Brian Patridge (Columbus, OH), Thomas Langan (Potomac, MD), and Jason Brammall (Greensborough, Australia) for the first tree goals of the game. Rogalia would score the game’s fourth goal off a Sam Buppert (Eldersburg, MD) feed.
Brendan Storrier (Lafayette, NY) and Buppert would each add a pair of goals as Saints expanded their lead to 9-0 early in the second quarter. Catawba finally got on the board with 12:04 left in the half on an unassisted goal from Walter McDonough (Wilmington, NC/Laney HS). The Indians would hang two more goals in the quarter to bring the score to 13-3 at the midway point, getting one from Cameron Kent (Rochester, NY/N. Mecklenburg,NC HS), who assisted on the next goal by Marty Tuohy (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth HS).
Limestone opened the second half much like the first, netting four goals, before Catawba answered with a second goal from Kent. Sean Duggan (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh HS) got the final tally for the Indians on an assist from McDonough. McDonough also added three ground balls and a takeaway.
