Field Hockey Drops 3-0 Decision to NCAA I Appalachian St.

BOONE, NC -- Catawba fell to NCAA I Appalachian State 3-0 in field hockey action on Sunday afternoon at Kidd Brewer Stadium.  The Mountaineers scored all three of their goals in the opening half and even their record at 5-5.  The Catawba Indians fall to 1-7.

Jessie Harris got things started quickly, scoring the first of her two goals just 2:38 into the contest.  ASU went up 2-0 with 10 minutes left in the half on a tally by Christine Zanowicz.  Harris got her second with just over five minutes before the break.

Catawba goalkeeper Bronwen Gainsford (Lewisville, NC/W. Forsyth HS) made 18 saves in the loss.  The Mountaineers held a 30-5 edge in shots.
