(9/30/09) Field Hockey Wins 1-0 on Dolbow's Tally SALEM, VA -- Senior Dana Dolbow (Edgewater, FL/Bridgeton,NJ HS) scored the lone goal with just over 10 minutes to play to lift visiting Catawba to a 1-0 win over Roanoke in field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Catawba Indians improve to 2-7 on the season, while the Maroons fall to 1-7. Neither team could score in the opening half with Catawba holding a 9-4 edge in shots. The Lady Indians peppered the goal with 13 shots in the final 35 minutes and finally got the tally when Dolbow scored at the 58:33 mark. She was assisted by Jamie Swain (Seaford, DE/Seaford HS), who started a flurry of shots in a 30 second span that produced the winning goal. Catawba finished with a 22-10 edge in shots and had a 10-2 advantage in penalty corners. Bronwen Gainsford (Lewisville, NC/W. Forsyth HS) picked up her first career shutout, making two saves. Christina Schicilone had 11 saves for Roanoke, including one a penalty stroke in the 61st minute to keep the Maroons within a goal. Related Item: Box Score |
