Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 at Newberry
NEWBERRY, SC -- Newberry remained undefeated in league play with a 1-0 win over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at the NC Soccer Field. The win improves Newberry to 8-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 6-3-1 and 1-1.
Megan Douglas provided the lone goal of the match for the hosts. It came in the 36th minute on a shot from the top of the box. Catawba held an 11-10 edge in shots (7-2 in second half), while Newberry enjoyed an advantage in corners 6-3, with five coming in the first half.
Lindsay Webster (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton HS) made five saves in goal for Catawba. Emily Rhoades stopped three shots to post the shutout for Newberry.
