(11/8/09) Five Earn All-SAC Honors in Women's Soccer ROCK HILL, SC – Catawba placed five players, including three freshmen, on the 2009 All-South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer teams. Earning first team honors were midfielder Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/N. Hagerstown HS) and defender Alexa Baird (Plainfield, NJ/Mt. St. Mary Academy). Second team honors went to forward Stephanie Borland (Hagerstown, MD/N. Hagerstown HS), midfielder Tasha Wilhelm (Mt. Savage, MD/Beall HS) and midfielder Katie Gair (Milton, Ontario, CANADA/St. Mary Catholic). Freshman Maria Borland leads the team in scoring this season with seven goals and four assists. One of her goals was a game-winner. Baird, a junior, helped the team to nine shutouts on a defense that has allowed just 18 goals in 20 matches. Wilhelm, one of just two seniors for Catawba, has tallied three goals, including a game-winner, with three assists. Two more freshmen round out the honorees.
