(11/13/09) Women's Soccer Finishes Sixth In Region The Catawba women’s soccer team finished the season ranked sixth in the Southeast Region, but just missed out on grabbing an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. Six teams earn spots in the regional, but the Lady Indians were knocked out by Belmont Abbey, which received the automatic qualifier from Conference Carolinas. Newberry got the final at-large spot after earned a 1-0 win over Catawba during the season. Catawba finished the season with a 13-5-2 record and were knocked out in the semifinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Sophomore Alyssa Retundie (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) and senior Tasha Wilhelm (Mt. Savage, MD/Beall HS) were named to the all-tournament team.
