Women's Soccer knocks off #7 TusculumSALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College scored two second half goals to upset #7 Tusculum 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Frock Field. The win was the fourth in a row for Catawba, which improves to 4-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, while the Pioneers fall to 4-1 and 2-1. After a scoreless first half, freshman Jessica Parker (Glendale,AZ) broke the tie as she lofted a shot over Pioneer keeper Jennie Murphy (Fairfield, OH) just over five minutes into the final period. Tusculum stepped up the pressure after the goal with Kim Clayton (Haw River, NC) keeping Catawba in front, punching away a shot over the crossbar just five minutes later. Catawba would get an insurance goal in the 67th minute when Monica Ortega (Miami, FL) found a loose ball in the penalty area and fired twice with the second shot finding the back of the net. Clayton made seven saves in posting her second shutout of the year. She has not allowed a goal over the last three matches.
