Huff, Karlsson and Yarborough Set Records in Final Day of SCAD Invite


SAVANNAH, GA -- The Catawba women’s swim team held on to a fourth-place finish while the men stayed sixth in the final standing at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) Invite on Saturday at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.  Three individual records were set on the final day by freshman Lindsay Yarborough (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS), Katie Huff (Richfield, NC/N. Stanly HS) and Mikael Karlsson (Norsborg, SWEDEN/Tullinge).

Huff won the 100 breast event and set a school record in the prelim with a time of 1:06.60.  Yarborough also set her record in the prelim, coming in the 100 back (2:09.01).  She was second in the final with Laurenn Singleton (Elkin, NC/Elkin HS) right behind in third.  Singleton won the “B” final of the 100 free.  The other to make a finals swim for the women was Ashley Owens (Stockbridge, GA/Stockbridge HS), who was fifth in the 500 free.

Karlsson notched his record in the 200 IM (1:56.87), finishing second.  He also had a finals swim in the 100 free where he placed fourth.  Alex Walpole (Pembroke Pines, FL/Cheyenne Mountain(CO) HS) finished seventh in the 500 free and Christoffer Stolt (Stockholm, SWEDEN/Fryshuset) was eighth in the 100 fly.
