Cross Country announces three signings for 2002

Catawba College cross country coach Bill Haggerty has announced the signing of three runners for the upcoming season. On the men’s side, Trey McNamee, of North Lanoka Harbor, NJ, and Ryan Willis, of Jonesboro, GA, have inked with the Tribe, while Carol Marquis, of Medina, OH, will run for the women’s team. McNamee ran four years at Lacey Township High School. He was a four-time team MVP and was captain his last two years. He was named most improved as a junior and earned the coaches award as a senior. McNamee helped the Lions to a conference title in cross country. His top 5k time was a 17:54, while he also ran track, clocking a 1,600 time of 5:02 and a 3,200 time of 10:44. Willis was captain and team MVP at Lovejoy High School. The three-year letter-winner was both county and region champion in cross country. He also ran track for the Wildcats. Marquis was a four-year standout at Medina High School. She was a four-time all-conference performer in cross country and helped the Bees to a conference and regional title in 2001. Medina was a three-time state quailifier and two-time district champion. Marquis was an all-conference performer in track in the 4x800 relay and was an academic all-conference performer. #######
