Kilchenstein Leads Men's Golf at Honda Classic


PROSPERITY, SC – The Catawba men’s golf team finished third among 10 schools at the Honda Columbia Fall Classic which concluded on Saturday at the 6,679-yard, par-72 Mid-Carolina Country Club hosted by the Wolves of Newberry College.  Evan Kilchenstein (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Curley) had the best finish for the Indians, tying with UNC Pembroke’s Ian Locklear for 10th place over two rounds by shooting even par.

Newberry College took the team title by 10 strokes over UNC Pembroke.  Matthew Campbell, of Newberry, was medalist after a one-hole playoff with teammate Ben Lown, with a two-round total of four-under-par 140.  Kilchenstein had rounds of 71-73 to total 144.  As a team the Wolves shot a 567 score, while Catawba totaled 586.
