Men's Soccer Falls to League-Leading Carson-Newman
JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- Host Carson-Newman grabbed a 5-1 win over Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday night at McCown Field. The Eagles improve to 8-2-1 overall and remain undefeated in league play at 5-0. The Catawba Indians dip to 6-5-1 and 0-4-1.
The Eagles built a 3-0 lead at the half and held Catawba without a shot in the opening 45 minutes. Adam Thomas scored just five minute in to put C-N on top. Robert Hill scored just before the half and then early in the second half to extend the margin to 4-0.
Domhnall Minogue Greystones, IRELAND/Presentation) helped the Indians avoid the shutout on his tally with 10 minutes left. Catawba rebounded to out-shoot the Eagles 10-7 in the final half. Jordan Moore had a pair of saves for C-N, while Luke McCarthy (Naples, FL/Naples HS) also had two saves in goal for Catawba.
