Women's Soccer Falls to League-Leading LR
SALISBURY, NC -- Lenoir-Rhyne remained undefeated in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action with a 7-1 victory over host Catawba at a foggy Frock Field on Wednesday night. Six different players tallied goals for the Bears, who improve to 12-1-1 overall and 7-0 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians fall to 6-6-2 and 2-4-1.
The Bears scored three times in the opening 17 minutes to take control of the match. Audrey Moore (Dublin, IRELAND) got things started in the ninth minute, while Elizabeth Hawes (Valdese, NC) and Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, FL) scored two minutes apart for the early cushion.
Lenoir-Rhyne would push the lead to 5-0 at the half and led 7-0 before Erinn Wescoat (Egg Harbor, NJ/Absegami HS) put Catawba on the board with just over 10 minutes to play. Ten Bears took part in the scoring with Amber Holt (Charlotte, NC) picking up two assists. L-R held a 21-5 edge in shots.
