Women's Soccer Blanked by #21 UNC Pembroke
PEMBROKE, NC -- Host UNC Pembroke, ranked 21st in NCAA II, knocked off Catawba 3-0 in women’s soccer action on Wednesday night at the UNCP Varsity Grounds. Rebecca Womack scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead UNCP. The Braves improve to 13-2-2, while the Catawba Indians fall to 6-7-3.
The Braves scored all three goals in the opening half, including the pair by Womack. Womack put UNCP on top in the 13th minute after a feed from Anna Svenson left her one-on-one with Catawba keeper Lindsay Webster (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton HS). She delivered an assist at the 32:16 mark on a goal by Andrea Collen then tallied the final goal just 13 seconds before the break.
UNC Pembroke held a 15-5 edge in shots and doubled up Catawba 8-4 in corner kicks. Webster turned back four shots, while Britney Bennett made three saves in posting the shutout.
