Football Garners #3 Spot in Initial Regional Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Catawba football team grabbed the number three post in the initial Super 2 Region rankings released by the NCAA Division II Football Committee on Monday. The Catawba Indians are 6-2 on the season with a home test against Tusculum this weekend and a road game at Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 13.
Albany State, the region’s only undefeated team is ranked #1 in the poll, followed by Valdosta State. Wingate slides in behind Catawba in the poll. Carson-Newman is the other ranked team from the South Atlantic Conference and is rated ninth. Six teams earn spots in the playoffs with the top two teams earning a first-week bye.
