Baseball Blanked By Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, NC -- Host Pfeiffer posted a 10-0 shutout win over Catawba in baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Ferebee Field.  Eric Shuford blanked the Catawba Indians for six frames to grab his first win of the season as the Falcons improve to 3-1.  The Indians fall to 2-2.

Kevin Price’s sacrifice fly in the second inning gave the Falcons the only run it would need, but Jesse Dunn began to add insurance runs as he followed with a two-run homer for a 3-0 lead after two innings.  Eric Shoemaker singled home a run in the third and hit a solo home run to start a six-run sixth that put the game away.

After the Shoemaker homer, Dunn singled home two runs, while Preston Lyon doubled home two more.  Shoemaker and Dunn each had two hits in the 11-hit Falcon attack.  Dunn finished with four RBI.

Shuford allowed just three hits and struck out 10 in his six innings.  Jacob Moore and John Sullivan finished up the contest.  Moore surrendered one hit in two frames, while Sullivan tossed a perfect ninth.

Josh Hohn (Greensboro, NC/S. Guilford HS/N. Greenville) had two of the four Catawba hits.  Ryan Bostian (Kannapolis, NC/S. Rowan HS/Montreat) and Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) also produced singles.  Ross Whitley (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) took the loss for the Indians.  He allowed four runs off five hits over three innings.
