Women's Soccer blanks Brevard for fourth shutout of season

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba defeated visiting Brevard 5-0 in women’s soccer action on Tuesday night at Frock Field. The shutout was the fourth in five matches for Catawba, now 5-0 on the year. Brevard dropped to 0-4. The game was scoreless for nearly 30 minutes before Lady Indian freshman Stephanie Morey (Ephrata, PA) broke the ice off an assist from fellow freshman Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD) in the 29th minutes. Jessica Parker (Glendale, AZ) would add a second Catawba goal with just under five minutes before the half. In the second half, Morey struck again in the 57th minute, while Megan Mainer (Raleigh, NC) tallied the final two goals. Catawba outshot the Tornado 37-0 in the match. Ashley Curtis (Forest City, NC) recorded 14 saves for Brevard. Kim Clayton (Haw River, NC) was untested in the Catawba net and recorded her 25th career shutout.
