Women's Tennis Falls to Tusculum
SALISBURY, NC -- Tusculum claimed a 6-3 win over host Catawba in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. The Pioneers improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians drop to 10-9 and 2-3.
Tusculum led 2-1 after doubles as the teams split tight matches at the #2 and #3 flights. At No. 2, the Catawba duo of Maggie McKee (Mt. Airy, NC/Mt. Airy HS) and Jennifer Dameron (Siler City, NC/Jordan-Matthews HS) claimed a 9-8 win in a tiebreaker, while the Pioneers took a 9-7 win at #3 by Megan Buckmaster and Blake Thompson.
Buckmaster and Thompson each added singles wins to help the Pioneer cause. Taylor Patterson also claimed singles and doubles wins for Tusculum. Kasia Zielinski (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) won in three-sets for Catawba at #1 singles, while Ally Prior (Raleigh, NC/Wakefield HS) also won in singles.
