Women's Tennis Rallies For 5-4 Victory at Lenoir-Rhyne
HICKORY, NC -- The Catawba College Lady Indians defeated host Lenoir-Rhyne 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action on Monday afternoon at Hickory High School. Catawba improves to 11-9 on the season and 3-3 in the SAC. The Bears now fall to 1-9 and 1-5 in conference play.
The Bears started off with a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Catawba’s Maggie McKee (Mt. Airy, NC/ Mt. Airy HS) and Jennifer Dameron (Siler City, NC/ Jordan-Matthews HS) picked up the win in doubles at the third flight.
Catawba managed to rally in singles by taking four of the six matches. McKee and Dameron tallied two of the wins for the Lady Indians at the number three and six seeds, respectively. Steffi Cook (Alpharetta, GA/ Milton HS) added her 50th career win with a victory in the fourth position and freshman Ally Prior (Raleigh, NC/ Wakefield HS) recorded a win at the fifth spot.
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Emily Mauser (Hickory, NC) and Kelsey Love (Port Orange, FL) both claimed victories in singles and doubles action.
