Women's Tennis Falls To Brevard 7-2
SALISBURY, NC -- The Brevard Tornados defeated host Catawba 7-2 in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis play on Friday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. Brevard improves to 10-5 on the season and 3-0 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians now fall to 12-10 and 3-4 in conference play.
Brevard jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles action. The Tornados’ Lindsay Shaeffer and Lindsay Hostetter took the first doubles flight and teammates Claire Dillman and Michelle Prata claimed victory at the #2 position. Catawba’s Maggie McKee (Mt. Airy, NC/Mt. Airy HS) and Jennifer Dameron (Siler City, NC/Jordan-Matthews HS) tallied the win at the third flight.
In singles action, Steffi Cook (Alpharetta, GA/ Milton HS) was the only Lady Indian to pick up a win for the Tribe. Shaeffer, Hostettler, Dillman and Prata added singles wins for Brevard along with Elise Labus, who claimed a three-set win over Dameron.
