Sabat and Myers Earn All-State Softball Honors
GREENSBORO, NC – Catawba senior Carly Sabat (Warren, OH/Howland HS) and freshman Kayla Myers (Bryson City, NC/Swain Co. HS) have been named to the 2011 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Team. Twelve student-athletes, representing seven different schools earned spots on the team which consists of non-NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities.
Sabat, an outfielder, hit .399 with a school-record eight triples and 16 stolen bases en route to second team All-SAC honors. She finished her career with a .383 average, ranking third best all-time at Catawba. She was second all-time with 191 hits, third best with 56 stolen bases and fourth all-time with 127 runs scored.
Myers, who earned a spot as the utility player, saw action at both second and third base this season.
