Lomascolo and Dula Named to NCCSIA All-State Baseball Team
HICKORY, NC -- Catawba’s Nick Lomascolo (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) and Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) have been named to the 2011 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Baseball Team. Thirteen student-athletes, representing nine different schools, earned spots on the team which consists of non-NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities.
Lomascolo anchored the Catawba pitching staff, posting a 9-3 record and a 2.78 ERA. He helped Catawba to a 41-15 mark and a berth in the NCAA II Tournament. Lomascolo was the South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year and was named first team all-region. The sophomore allowed just 72 hits over 103 and two-thirds innings of work. He posted 88 strikeouts.
Dula, a third baseman, was the 2011 SAC Freshman of the Year and also an all-region selection. The first team all-conference pick led Catawba with a .377 average, topping the team in hits (81), runs (52), doubles (21) and RBI (62). He added three triples and nine home runs.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina whose responsibilities include sports information.
The NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA, NCCAA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. Over 1,000 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
