HARROGATE, TN -- Lincoln Memorial claimed a four-set win over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Friday night at Mars Gym. The Lady Railsplitters won by the scores of 25-13, 32-34, 25-15 and 25-20 to improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians fall to 4-2 and 0-1.

HS) posted 13 kills and 20 digs.
Tied after two sets, LMU was able to claim the last two to take the win. In set four, the Lady Railsplitters overcame an early deficit and used a 9-1 run to take control at 14-8. Walton had a pair of kills and combined on a block in the run. The Lady Railsplitters put the set away with a five-point run to go up 22-12.
Lincoln Memorial had an early lead in set four before Catawba battled back. Trailing 11-6, the Lady Indians were able to reel off six consecutive points to go on top 12-11. LMU went back on top at 17-13 then saw Catawba storm back to even the set at 18 apiece. From there, LMU scored four points, two on Lady Indian errors, to pull away and ended the match on kill by Jennifer Drum.
Catawba had drawn even after it pulled out a marathon set two. An ace by Denise Grissom (Stokesdale, NC/Rockingham Co. HS) and a kill by Emily Richardson (Salem, VA/Salem HS) helped the Lady Indians to an early 4-1 edge. Candace Richardson killed off a point for LMU to give the Lady Railsplitters a 9-8 lead, but Catawba came right and after a pair of kills from Raye and another by Whitmer, pushed the Lady Indians back up 15-11.
Richardson gave Catawba a set point with a kill for a 24-22 count, but LMU rallied back on kills from Walton and Beavers to tie the set. The Lady Railsplitters had two set points after that, but Whitmer killed off one, while Richardson and Shay Meeks (Kings Mountain, NC/Kings Mountain HS) combined to block down the other. Catawba finally cashed in on its ninth set point on a combo block from Alli Parrish (Zebulon, NC/Smithfield-Selma HS) and Taylor Doss (Boonville, NC/Starmount HS).
LMU scored the first three points of set one and never trailed. Leading 14-9, the Lady Railsplitters scored six straight points with Walton and Fowler each killing off a pair of points to make the score 20-10. A Catawba service error provided the set point.
