Men's Soccer blanks PfeifferSALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College scored twice in the opening half to defeat visiting Pfeiffer 2-0 in men's soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field. Catawba improves to 5-4, while the Falcons fall to 4-4-1. Catawba opened the scoring mid-way through the opening half as Simon Silva (Headington, ENGLAND) collected a loose ball in the penalty box and fired past Pfeiffer keeper Jason Meares (Dumfries, VA) in the 23rd minute. The Indians would add a second goal just over 10 minutes later as Brennan Regner (Mebane, NC) dribbled across the top of the penalty box and shot back across the goal to beat Meares. The second half was mostly a defensive struggle. Catawba had just five shots, with the best chance coming from Jeff Shea (Ft. Langley, BC, CANADA) who was saved nicely by Mears. Pfeiffer had only three shots with the best chance being cleared away by defender Ross Hudgins (Poquoson, VA). Catawba keeperDavid Durham (Oak Ridge, TN) made three saves to record the shutout.
