Women's Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Pioneers
GREENEVILLE, TN -- Tramicka James scored her second goal of the match just 18 seconds before the end of regulation to lift Tusculum over Catawba 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Tusculum’s Pioneer Field. The Lady Indians drop to 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the South Atlantic Conference, while the Pioneers up their record to 9-6-1 and 4-3.
With time winding down, James received a center pass from teammate Patience Leonard just outside the Catawba box. Lady Indian goalkeeper Lindsay Webster (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton HS) stepped out to defend and the game-winner was chipped in over her head from 20 yards out.
James scored midway through the first half off a header from a corner kick for a 1-0 halftime lead. Catawba tied it in the 57th minute when Juliana Conte (Hampton, ONT, CANADA/Holy Trinity Catholic HS) notched her first score of the season on a 10-yard strike off an assist from Brittany Gibbons (Woodleaf, NC/West Rowan HS).
Webster made five saves for the Lady Indians, which were outshot 15-9 by the Pioneers.
Catawba will host UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 5:00 pm in its last non-conference game of the year.
