Raye Repeats as SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- For the second straight week, Catawba setter Jordan Raye (Boonville, NC/Starmount HS) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specilaist of the Week. League honors also went to Anderson’s Tiffany Rowe, who was named the SAC Player of the Week. It was announced by the league office on Monday.
Raye, a junior, earned her honors after guiding Catawba to three wins. The setter posted a pair of double-digit kill efforts, including a triple-double against Lenoir Rhyne. Against the Bears, Raye handed out 38 assists while recording 12 digs and 10 kills.
She also tallied 22 assists and 16 digs against Brevard, followed by a 41 assist, 10 kill performance in a non-conference matchup with Limestone. On the week, Raye averaged 9.18 assists, 2.91 digs and two kills per-set. This marks her second-straight Specialist of the Week distinction.
Rowe, the SAC Player of the Week, knocked down a career-high 13 blocks in Anderson’s setback to Mars Hill on Saturday, equaling the 10th-best individual match total in SAC history and third-highest in AU history. She also recorded five kills and an assist against MHC.
Earlier in the week against Tusculum, Rowe tallied five kills, one dig and one block. She is just two blocks shy of fifth-place on Anderson’s career leaderboard.
