Crifasi Sets School 10k Mark at Southeast Regional Cross Country Meet
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Catawba junior Christian Crifasi (Ramseur, NC/E. Randolph HS) broke the school 10k record and ran to All-Southeast Region honors on Saturday morning at the 2011 NCAA II Southeast Region Championships held at McAlpine Park. Crifasi finished ninth overall in a time of 32:14, easily besting the old mark of 33.09 set by Ryan Willis in 2004.
Senior Clay Yarbrough (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) also ran in the meet for the Catawba men. He clocked in with a time of 36:24 which marks the 15th-best 10k time in school history. Yarbrough was 128th overall.
Four women ran in the women’s 6k. Olivia Myers (Lexington, NC/W. Davidson HS) had the best finish with a time of 24:57. That marked the seventh best time in school history and placed her 98th in the region meet. Candace Hall (Denver, NC/E. Lincoln HS) posted a time of 26:00 (133rd), senior Leigh Ann Cooley (Laurinburg, SC/Scotland Co. HS) ran a 27:40 (159th) and Devin Purvis (Spencer, NC/Carson HS) clocked in at 28:09 (164th).
