SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba rolled to a 69-49 season-opening win over visiting Queens in women’s basketball action on Tuesday night at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians got 14 points each from Chloe Bully (Hannut, BELGIUM/KOL Landen) and Nisha Long (Dallas, NC/Gaston Day) in grabbing the win. The Royals fall to 0-2.

The game was tightly contested over the opening ten minutes, but Catawba began to pull away over the final eight minutes. HS) and Taylor May (China Grove, NC/S. Rowan HS) added jumpers to give Catawba its 10-point edge at the 5:43 mark of the half.

After going down by 12 early in the second half, the Royals reeled off six straight to close within 32-6, but Catawba would answer with a 16-2 run to put the game away. Queens never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
