Catawba School Records Fall at Wingate Fall Frenzy Meet
CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Catawba swim teams competed in the Wingate Fall Frenzy at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center over the weekend. The men finished sixth out of 10 teams and the women placed seventh out of 11 in the competition.
Katia Kruglov (Karmiel, ISRAEL) broke into the Catawba record books once more by winning the 200 back in 2:05.15 and by placing third in the 100 back (58.79) and 200 free (1:55.33). All three times were school records while her time in the 200 back is the second-best in all of Division II this season and a NCAA B-cut. The 400 medley relay team of Janin Kassner (Giesen, GERMANY/Andreanum HS), Leah Constan-Tatos (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA/St. Andrews), Lindsay Yarborough (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) and Kruglov finished eighth with a time of 4:07.39.
On the men’s side Andrew McCollister (Rockwell, NC/Salisbury HS) broke a school record in the 1650 free (16:36.36) as he finished seventh. He also placed third in the 400 IM (4:14.60). Magnus Lundgren (Alvsjo, SWEDEN/Varmdo HS) placed sixth in the 100 fly (51.90) and 100 free (46.99). The team of Theo Zatterstrom (Stockholm, SWEDEN/Fryshuset HS), Toomas Goutt (Saint Witz, FRANCE/Lycee Leonard de Vinci HS), Christoffer Stolt (Stockholm, SWEDEN/Fryshuset HS) and Lundgren set a school record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:10.81 placing sixth. The team also finished fourth in the 200 free relay (1:26.19).
The swim teams’ next competition will be at home on Dec. 3 against Pfeiffer in a dual meet.
