Catawba Swimmers Fare Well in Opening Day of Shark Invitational
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Four new school records were set by Catawba swimmers Friday night at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational.
Katia Kruglov (Karmiel, ISRAEL) broke a school record in the 200 IM placing 12th with a time of 2:09.56, which also produced an NCAA ‘B’ cut. Lindsay Yarborough (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) set a personal best time in the same event at 2:14.54 finishing 17th. The 200 medley relay team of Yarborough, Kruglov, Janin Kassner (Giesen, GERMANY/Andreanum HS) and Leah Constan-Tatos (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA/St. Andrews) placed eighth.
For the men Andrew McCollister (Rockwell, NC/Salisbury HS) set another school record in the 1000 free at 9:40.93, good enough for seventh place. His time was an NCAA ‘B’ cut. Mikael Karlsson (Norsborg, SWEDEN/Tullinge Gymnasium HS) finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.67, an NCAA ‘B’ cut. Magnus Lundgren (Alvsjo, SWEDEN/Varmdo HS) placed second in the 50 free at 21.19, a new school record and NCAA ‘B’ cut. The 200 medley relay team of Karlsson, Lundgren, Theo Zatterstrom (Stockholm, SWEDEN/Fryshuset HS) and Christoffer Stolt (Stockholm, SWEDEN/Fryshuset HS) set a school record of 1:35.74 finishing fifth.
