Regner's overtime strike lifts Men's Soccer over KingSALISBURY, NC – Catawba got an overtime goal from junior Brennan Regner (Mebane, NC) and defeated visiting King College 2-1 in men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Frock Field. The win improves Catawba to 9-5, while dropping the Tornado to 9-4-3. The teams battled through a scoreless half before Tyler Kulp (Ephrata, PA) broke the ice for Catawba, hammering home an initial shot by Jake Pace (Salisbury, NC) just over two minutes into the second half. Catawba had an apparent insurance goal called back for offside with about 20 minutes to play. Late in regulation, Clay Crotts (Shelby, NC) scored the equalizer for King on a low-driving free kick with just under four minutes to play. Neither team could find the net in the first half of overtime, but in the 104th minute, Mo Norman (Clive, IA) played a long ball from the back that freed Regner, who collected the ball and beat the King keeper. Catawba held a decisive advantage in shots, 15-8 after regulation and 22-12 at the end. The Indians also had 10 corner kicks to six for the Tornado.
